Campaign Suspension

Antonucci for Congress

Hello friends, family, and supporters,

As some of you may have noticed, my team and I have been quiet the past few weeks.
I am now writing you all, my supporters, to provide an update on the status of my campaign.

Those who live in NY01 might already be aware that the statewide congressional redistricting recently passed the Legislature and has been approved by the Governor. I encourage you to take a look at the before and after maps for yourself to better understand the situation.

So what does this mean?

After we received the redistricted maps, we broke down the data and it didn’t look promising. At the most basic level, we do not have the resources to harvest enough primary votes in the new areas drawn on the map. We lost all of Sachem school district, Patchogue-Medford school district, and many south shore zip codes with diverse and thriving downtown populations that would have given us a real shot. These are places where I grew up, where I’ve worked for 20 years as an educator, where people know my name, and where my current and strongest supporters live.

It is unfortunate that gerrymandering has dampened our efforts to this point, but my campaign for NY01 does not see a way forward leading up to the June primary.

If you have supported this campaign up to this point – through donations, through your time, through engaging with our content online, etc. We profoundly thank you for engaging in democracy.

My team and I are preparing our next steps and hope to share those with you soon. I hope our supporters stay engaged and choose to vote in the June primary. This has not changed the fact that democracy is not a spectator sport, whether you are running or voting.

These top issues remain important to me, my team, and more importantly Long Island. They should continue to be a priority regardless of the nominee.

I look forward to what is next and hope you come along for the journey. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
